With the coming of May, a whole new array of fish and bugs are introduced in the world of Animal Crossing for the benefit of being caught by us players. The Catfish is included in those critters which we are all set to try our fishing rod skills on. In this Animal Crossing: New Horizons guide, we are going to walk you through how you can catch Catfish in the game.
Catching Catfish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
You cannot afford to be lazy on catching this new marine critter as it will only be available from May to October in the Northern Hemisphere and from November to April in the Southern Hemisphere.
The catfish’s schedule of appearance is also quite strict so you will only be able to catch it from 4 PM and through the whole night till 9 AM the next morning.
The location of the Catfish is also quite specific, as it can only be caught from ponds that have larger shadows in them, like the Carp or Koi ponds. So wallowing in the goldfish ponds will be quite beneficial if you wish to hunt some catfish.
Even though the hours might not be convenient, this fish is not rare and can be caught easily if you are available at the right time and location. Fishbait is an excellent way to make the spawning go faster and if you are looking to finish your collection at the museum then this is an easy enough mission for you to take on.
Same as hunting for any other fish, you must get your aim right in the direction of the shadow of the fish you can see underneath the surface. Do not resort to readjusting if your lure has been spotted by the fish. Just wait for the lure to go below the waters and then quickly hit the A button. Timing it just right is the most essential part of fishing.
You will not be able to sell the Catfish at a very high price as it’s only worth 800 bells at Nook’s Cranny. However, if CJ is present on your island then you can get 1200 Bells for your catch which is quite a great deal.
