Can you get Married in Animal Crossing New Leaf?
Let’s get the big question out of the way first. No, you can’t really get married in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
It’s not a feature that the developers have put into the game, so you can’t set up a complex series of events that will eventually see you wed the Villager you love most.
However, there are a couple of scenarios that will allow you to live out your dream of either getting married in the game, or marrying one of the Villagers that you clearly adore so much.
Arrange a Wedding With Another Player
This scenario could work with another random player in the game, or with that special someone who you genuinely want to marry.
There are items in the game that you can craft and set up in order to create whatever kind of wedding you want.
If you then invite that special someone over to your island, then you can go ahead with a wedding ceremony.
The best place to get wedding gear would be from Gracie Grace at the T&T Emporium, but you’ll have to check in regularly to see when it’s available.
Since up to three other people can join your island in the game, you’ll have one to officiate, one to marry, and one as a best man/maid of honour. Of course, you can use Villagers to fill in the other roles.
If this is your plan, it might be best to organise the wedding on your birthday, since all the Villagers will be excited to see you, and give you gifts.
Pretend to Marry a Villager
This second scenario is a lot simpler than the first, but it’s also completely fake. You can’t marry a Villager in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but you can make it look like you have. At least in your own head.
You can be give a picture of your favourite Villager. All you need to do is compliment them all the time, and see them every day.
Putting this somewhere in your home, with pride of place, will make it look like that Villager is married to you, and that you love them enough that you got a picture of them framed.
Really these are the only two ways that you can get married in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I think that the developers might have considered adding the feature into the game at one point.
But then they must have reconsidered the system. I only believe this because it seems like a natural progression of the gameplay. Marriage is the natural evolution of relationships.
Just like how flowers are the natural evolution of watering seeds, which you can also do in the game.
Sorry to disappoint you if you thought that we’d give you a cool way of bypassing the game. We’d love to, but it won’t allow you to marry your favourite Villager.
Maybe the developers will add this into Animal Crossing: New Horizons one day. For now there’s just no hope of it ever really happening in New Leaf.
