Amenities in Civilization 6 work like Happiness in Civilization 5 with a few minor changes. In this guide, we will walk you through everything you need to know about all the Amenities in the game, changes, how they work, and using them to keep your citizens happy for a prosperous empire.

Civilization 6 Amenities

As mentioned earlier, the Happiness stat from Civilization 5 has been replaced by Amenities in the latest game.

Just like previous installments, the happiness of your citizens is incredibly important if you do not want them to go against you. Failing to do so will cause unrest among your citizens who will turn barbaric and hinder the growth of your empire.

This is why Amenities is one of the most important things you should work on at the earliest.

Increasing Amenities

When we talk about increasing the happiness of your citizens, Luxury Resource is the first thing that comes to mind.

As you continue to grow your empire, you will stumble upon one or more Luxury Resources. These resources are not only the key to improving Amenities in Civilization 6 but can also make you a lot of money.

There are a lot of Luxury Resources in the game including but not limited to diamonds, wine, coffee, jade, marble, salt, tea, tobacco, etc. These resources provide Amenities for your cities. With a few exceptions, each unique Luxury Resource provides 4 Amenities overall which is distributed to 4 of your cities. An additional copy of the same Luxury Resource does not provide any Amenities but that does not mean it is useless.

For example, if you come across a couple of coffee resources in your city, you will get +4 Amenities for your cities and trade the remaining resources to other empires who should pay a hefty amount for it – it is a win-win situation.

Aside from Luxury Resources, there are other ways of improving your Amenities in the game. One thing that comes to mind is Entertainment Structures which are unlocked through the Games and Recreation. These structures will provide at least +1 Amenities to your cities.

In addition to Entertainment Structures and luxury resources, other things that increase Amenities include Civics, Great People, Wonders, Religion, and National Parks.
