This Dead by Daylight how to find hatch guide will help you advance in the game and walk you through it step by step.
There are two ways to escape as a survivor in every Dead by Daylight match. The first is to activate all the generators, open the gate, and run away from the killer.
The second is to find and use the hatch. In this guide we’re going to cover how to find the hatch in Dead by Daylight, allowing you to escape much quicker the next time you’re stuck in a jam.
Dead by Daylight – How to Find the Hatch
The easiest way the hatch in a Dead by Daylight is to make your way to the furthest edge of the map, regardless of which map, and circle around.
Once you’ve done one full rotation of the map, you’ll need to start working your way in. As you do this you should come across the hatch at some stage.
It’s important to note that the number of hatches that spawn increases with the number of survivors. for example, one survivor will get two hatches, whilst four survivors will get five.
This is to even the odds against the killer when the going gets tough.
This video explains the noise that you’re trying to hear very well.
How to Hatches Work?
You’ll be able to hear a hatch spawning before you can see it. Keep your sound up, and barely breath. Just keep circling the map and listen out for the hatch.
If you’re keeping an ear out then you should easily find it, but if you’re too busy running or looking for the killer, there’s every chance that you’ll miss it.
However, the way that hatches most commonly work is that they open when there is one survivor left in the match.
Regardless of whether every other survivor has escaped, or been killed, when there is one left, the hatches will open.
Survivors will see the hatches opening, and need to run to them as quickly as possible, because the killer will also be able to see them whilst they’re open.
Cunning survivors might wait to watch the killer run off to a hatch, and use that as an opportunity to run out of the gate. This is probably your best bet if you’ve been trying to get around the killer for a while.
Can you Unlock Hatches Early?
It is totally possible to unlock hatches early, but you’ll need a specific item. You can open up a hatch early if you find a Full Skeleton Key, but that’s the only way to get it to open early.
This isn’t a tactic that many players rely on because it’s based on them finding a key item.
Why Should I use a Hatch?
As I mentioned before, the hatches are the easier way to escape if a killer is guarding an open gate.
Killers can easily attack any survivor who isn’t quick or alert enough when heading for the exit, so a hatch provides them with a sneaky exit.
However, if you can’t unlock a hatch early, you’re at the mercy of the killer. Waiting to be the final survivor means that you’ll also be the only one being hunted, making things quite stressful for you.
If you and the killer converge on the same hatch at the same time, the chances are that you’ll die before you can exit.
Due to this, it’s way more effective to head for the exit once the hatches open. Killers will need to make a decision at this point, and they usually choose hunting for survivors around hatches.
