Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Resistance is the second live event the game has ever seen. In it, players will team up with the Rebel faction across the island of Auroa to fight back against their enemies and gain more ground in their battle for freedom.
Here we’re going to cover everything that you need to know about the event, including some of the rewards on offer.
Time-limited
First things first. Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Resistance will only be around until August 7 2020. That means you have about one week left to make the most of this incredible live event.
To start it, all you need to do is ensure that the latest update for the game is installed on your chosen system. As soon as you load up the game, you’ll be able to participate in the event.
Outlaws
Resistance completely changes Auroa for the better. It makes the Outlaws a much more present faction. You’ll be able to come across Outlaws pretty much anywhere you go, regardless of how far through the game’s story you are.
Outlaws will show up in their own unique vehicles, from cars to helicopters, and you’re able to take them for a spin if you feel like it.
It’s important to help the Outlaws wherever you come across them on Auroa. Sometimes this will be on a random corner of a road, where enemies are pinning the Outlaws down, but most of the time it will be in missions.
Resistance Missions
The new live event adds an entirely new segment of missions to your mission board. If you navigate there in the menu, then you’ll be able to pick and choose from the Resistance missions available to you.
These missions don’t vary a lot, but they’re extremely interesting nonetheless.
The core mission types will see you clearing a convoy, capturing a key point on the map, or invading a base to rescue some Outlaws.
Convoy Missions
My favourite missions from this event are Convoy Missions. These task you with taking out a convoy as it speeds towards your location.
Once you’ve started the mission, you’ll only have a minute or so before the convoy arrives.
The best tactic for completing the missions fast is to lay mines on the road. The vehicles will blow up, blocking any that manage to avoid the explosions.
This will force your enemies out of their vehicles, where you and the Outlaws can finish them off. It also helps to throw a few grenades into the path of the convoy as they approach.
Don’t get too comfortable though. If the convoy manages to evade your efforts, you’ll need to pile into a vehicle quickly and chase them.
If the convoy gets away, it’s mission failed. I play with AI teammates on, which allowed me to take the convoy down whilst chasing them in an armoured car.
Don’t worry if you do fail the mission, you can retry any Resistance Missions from the menu.
Capture Missions
These missions are pretty straightforward, and they resemble what you’d be doing in the game anyway.
The Outlaws will be positioned just outside of a key location on the map. There might be ammunition there, or something else they’re interested in, like intelligence.
Regardless, they’re waiting for you to go in and clear that location out.
Clearing the location is as easy as it is in the game normally. You just choose your targets, take them down one by one, and run in to accomplish the first part.
Once this is done though, the enemy is going to send reinforcements to try to take the location back.
This is where waves of enemies start to show up, and it’s down to you and the Outlaws to hold your ground. Kill all of the enemies, and watch out for vehicles.
I had some trouble with helicopters, but a few well placed shots will bring them right down.
Once that’s all done, you’ll be told you’ve done a great job, and can move on.
Rescue Missions
These are by far the most involved missions. You’ll start outside of a large base, and be told that there are some Outlaws inside the base that need to be rescued.
From here, you’ll need to work your way into the base, rescue those Outlaws, and get them to safety. I definitely enjoyed these missions, but they didn’t feel much different to the game’s core missions.
Outlaw Presence
As you complete more missions, you’ll increase the strength of the Outlaws. This will result in more of them appearing across Auroa. You may not notice this, but I certainly did.
The Outlaws come in handy when you encounter a small group of enemies, because they’ll usually appear just in time to distract and kill them.
Of course, completing missions also increases your reputation with the Outlaws, which has its own rewards.
Rewards
The Resistance live event has its own battle pass of rewards to earn. This is usual in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, and it’s actually a great way to earn some really nice gear to take into the main game.
While the battle pass is great, because it presents you with a whole new range of cosmetics, it’s the Strike Designator that you want to earn.
This is the weapon that you’ll get for maxing out your reputation with the Outlaws, and therefore their strength.
The Strike Designator allows you to pick a target for the Outcasts, who are the Outlaws, to send a strike missile to.
This is an incredibly powerful tool, and would let you complete some daily or weekly missions without moving a muscle.
This is the item that most players are working towards for this event, and it’s definitely worth your time.
That’s all there is to know about Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Resistance. If there’s something important that you think we missed, please do let us know in the comments.
Otherwise, enjoy your time on Auroa while the Outlaws fill the island.
