Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order just received a new, free content expansion to celebrate May the Fourth! The main draw of this update is New Journey+ mode, which allows you to play through the game with all previous cosmetics unlocked. This mode also gives the player access to a new Sith Inquisitor appearance. It also grants the player access to the new Meditation Training mode, where you can take on the brand-new Combat Challenges in Jedi Fallen Order.

How to Access Meditation Training

To play the new Combat Challenges, you need to first gain access to Mediation Training. This can be found by resting at any of the meditation points scattered throughout the galaxy. Bear in mind, Meditation Training should only appear when playing in New Journey+ mode*. After selecting Meditation Training, you’ll be able to tackle the Combat Challenges in any order from a sub-menu.

*NOTE: Players are reporting the ability to load old save files that are not New Journey+ runs and getting access to Meditation Training. On PS4 running patch 1.09, I was able to load my completed launch save and access Meditation Training. This is most certainly a glitch, but it is worth trying if you want to play the new content without replaying Fallen Order.

Combat Challenges Overview and Rewards

The combat challenges are wave-based, with different numbers of waves and opponents depending on the challenge. Each takes place in a different arena and has a different theme to the enemies you’ll encounter. Simply completing a challenge grants the player one star. A second star is earned for beating a challenge without healing, and a third is earned for beating a challenge without taking damage. Collecting twelve stars unlocks new customization options for BD-1. Check out the gallery below to see these new appearances.

Combat Challenges Tips and Tricks

Save these challenges until the later portion of a playthrough. Cal enters the challenges only with the force powers and abilities he has unlocked at that point in the save file. Respawn specifically designed these challenges to be difficult and to test the mettle of seasoned Jedi.

Take out the weaker enemies in each wave first. These challenges often throw a ton of enemies into each wave of varying strengths. Thin the opponent’s numbers, and then focus on the most dangerous attackers once they’re the only ones left. The arenas are small and with a lot of foes in play, it can become easy to get surrounded.

Turn enemies against each other. Since the areas are fairly small, use the chaos to your advantage. In waves that feature enemies that fire projectiles, use clever positioning and force powers to throw grenades, explosives, and blaster bolts back into grouped up enemies. This is especially useful if you’re trying to clean up groups, avoid damage, and collect extra stars.

Now you’re ready to take on the Combat Challenges in Jedi Fallen Order. By following these tips, you’ll become a Jedi Master in no time. If you’re looking for more tips check out our guide on the double jump ability here!
