Miners in Satisfactory can be placed on resource nodes in order to extract solid resources. There are a total of four types of Miners in the game: Miner Mk.1, Miner Mk.2, Miner Mk.3, and Portable Miner. In this Satisfactory guide, we will walk you through everything you need to know about how the Portable Miners work and crafting them.

Satisfactory Portable Miners

In order to use the Portable Miners in the game, you must hold them in the hand slot and then place them on top of a resource node. It is entirely possible to place multiple Portable Miners in an area, provided that you have got enough space.

To craft a Portable Miner, you need to complete the Tier 0 Milestone – Hub Upgrade 1 and then do so at the Equipment Workshop. Crafting it requires you to have 2x Iron Plate and 2x Iron Rod.

It is important to know that a Portable Miner in Satisfactory does not need any fuel/power and lacks Conveyer Belt connections. As for its capacity, it can only hold a single stack of an ore which is usually a hundred. Another important thing that we need to consider when it comes to mining is the speed at which you can mine resources with a particular Miner.

With a Portable Miner, you can mine at a speed of 20, 40, and 80 items per minute for impure, normal, and pure resource nodes respectively.

How to Use

To use a Portable Miner in the game, open up your inventory and equip it in your hand by left-clicking it twice. With it equipped, use the Resource Scanner to find your desired resource node. After finding one, deposit the Portable Miner by left-clicking and let it do its work. Once it is full, it will stop the animation and you will be able to grab all the resources.

Lastly, do note that you cannot dismantle a Portable Miner. You can, however, remove it.

This is how you can craft Portable Miners in Satisfactory.
